"Education is a basic need and a fundamental right for every human being."
Humaira Bachal’s mother supported her education through sewing and selling wood. Despite opposition, she secretly completed matriculation in 2004 with her mother’s support.
After a tragic incident in 1998, she began teaching children at 13. She opened a home-based school and advocated for girls’ education, even offering incentives.
With growing enrollment, she moved to a mud-floor building. By 2009, the school became Dream Model Street School under The Dream Foundation Trust.
Despite threats, she expanded with support from global donors. A new 11-room building was built, hosting 1,200 children and 33 volunteer teachers.
The school won international awards. Humaira now aims to scale her model across 114 slums and eventually build a university for underserved communities.
